Ranch Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker

I know that you probably have made something similar to this: pork chops in a slow cooker with ranch packet & a can of condensed soup. Simple? Yes. Healthy? Not terrible but not good for us. I needed a less sodium, low-fat version and I like control over my food. It takes a few more minutes but seriously, it’s worth it to make your own seasoning and cream of ______ soup mix.

Homemade Ranch "Packet" Seasoning

  1. 1 Tbsp. dried parsley
  2. 1 tsp. dried dill weed
  3. 1 tsp. garlic powder
  4. 1 tsp. onion powder
  5. 1 tsp. dried onion flakes or dried chives
  6. 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
  7. 1/2 tsp. salt
  1. Mix all ingredients together with either a mortar & pestle or in a food processor.

Homemade Cream of ________ Condensed Soup

  1. 2 tablespoons whole-wheat flour
  2. 3 tablespoons butter
  3. 1/2 cup chicken/beef/vegetable broth or even water
  4. 1/2 cup skim milk
  5. salt and pepper, to taste
  1. Melt the butter over medium-low heat.
  2. Whisk in the flour and continue whisking until smooth and bubbly.
  3. Slowly whisk in broth and milk.
  4. Bring to a gentle boil, whisking constantly, until the soup thickens.
  5. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  1. Homemade Ranch Packet (see recipe above)
  2. Homemade Cream of _______ Recipe (see above)
  3. Boneless Thin Pork Chops (I had 8 chops)
  1. You can either freeze the meal before cooking or use right away.
  2. Put it all in the slow cooker.
  3. From Frozen, cook in slow cooker for 6 hours on low.
  4. From Fresh, cook in slow cooker for 4-5 hours on low.
  1. I doubled the Cream of ______ recipe so I had more sauce.
